Josh Kelly says he's ready to take on the likes of Chris Eubank and Connor Benn after defeating unbeaten Argentinian fighter Gabriel Corzo to retain his WBO International super welterweight title. The Sunderland born fighter made light work of his counterpart with a unanimous points victory.

The 29-year-old Sunderland fan, has reiterated his desire to fight in front of a packed out Stadium of Light and is currently ranked number two in the world. Kelly is hoping to secure a world title fight later this year and continue his rise.

Kelly, who defeated Corzo with judges' scores of 120-107, 120-107 and 117-110, told DAZN: "I want big fights. I want those big names, the Eubanks and the Benns.

"I would welcome any of those names to the north east. Any of those names, they have my number. I will take those dangerous fights."

Kalle Sauerland, Global Head of Boxing at Wasserman Boxing, said: "This man is going to be a world champion, but what's next? We will push for that No1 spot with the WBO, but there are also a lot of names out there and some of them are looking for fights.

"They want the big fights in the autumn and this win sets that up nicely. There is going to be a big end to the year for Josh.

Josh Kelly retains his belt after defeating Gabriel Corzo.

"You only have to look around Josh’s weight domestically to see some great fights for him. Look at the names around the weight, such as Kell Brook, Chris Eubank Junior, Liam Smith and, potentially, Conor Benn.

"You can quite easily get a Super Six tournament together! These are exciting times for Josh Kelly. I can see opportunities emerging for Josh in the world title route later this year but there are also these domestic blockbusters.”

Adam Booth, Kelly's coach, said: "I would let him off the leash tomorrow. It is time for Josh to show the level he is at and put him in with someone who is a name and who wants to throw their hands.

"Everyone loves big domestic showdowns, so let's make the fights because they are the fights the British people want to see.

“Those names that Kalle mentioned, they don’t want to fight Josh because they know what a nightmare he is. He is not just a nightmare for them because they can’t touch him, but also because they will get hurt while that is happening."
